Bert Saylor, 89, of Marshall, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 in the night at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.Bert was born on December 3, 1923 to Bert Sr. and Donna (Banfield) Saylor in Marshall. He attended Marshall Public Schools and graduated from Marshall High School.In 1946 he married Anna Belle Kidder in Angola, Indiana. They had two wonderful children together, Carol and Terry.Bert worked on his family dairy farm in Fredonia Township his whole life and continued the family business by continuing his father's farm.Bert attended Marshall Wesleyan Church. He was also a Charter Member of the Fredonia Fire Department as well as the National Farmer organization and the Fredonia Zoning Board.He enjoyed outdoor activities. Bert was a hunter, a baseball player, a fisherman, and a great gardener!Bert is survived by his wife, Annie of Marshall; a daughter, Carol (Gerald) Marshall of Marshall; a son, Terry (Pam) Saylor of Marshall; a brother, Arthur (Gail) Saylor of Marshall; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Loretta Wheeler.Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4 from 5-8PM at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, 723 US 27 North, Marshall. A funeral service to celebrate Bert's life will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 5th at 11:00AM with Pastor Dennis Croy officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. A post funeral luncheon will be held at the Kempf Funeral Home Reception Hall following the committal service.
