Alex Markovich

Alex Markovich, age 89, formerly of Albion, passed away on Tuesday, December 8 in Marietta, Georgia.Mr. Markovich was born on January 10, 1921 in Albion to Myron and Anna (Marchuk) Markovich. Alex had been employed at Albion Malleable Iron Company before moving to Florida with his wife, Marian Stantion. She preceded him in death. While living in Florida, he owned and operated a lawn care business. In his later years, he moved to Marietta Georgia. He is preceded in death by his longtime companion, Laverne Wilpers.Alex is survived by two brothers, John (Yvonne) Markovich and Sam Markovich both of Albion; numerous nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Dale and Dick Wilpers. Alex also leaves behind many special friends at the Atria Care Facility in Marietta, GA. He is preceded in death by sisters, Mary Frymark, Lucille Tautkus and Anna Markovich.Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, August, Michigan. Military honors will be provided by the Ft. Custer National Cemetery Honor Guard.
