Robert J. Westworth, 68, of Battle Creek went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family following a short illness.
Bob was born on December 10, 1949 in Battle Creek to Robert K. and Dorothy A. (Weston) Westworth. He graduated from Battle Creek Schools. On December 27, 1969 he married the love of his life Barbara J. Verwey in Battle Creek at Urbandale Baptist Church.
Bob worked with his father for many years at Michigan National Bank in Battle Creek until the bank closed. He later went to work at the Shell Station in Augusta for several years. Bob attended Grace Community Church in Pennfield. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting. Bob was a true sports fan and loved watching and playing softball for several years and watching his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews in their sporting events. Bob was an true fan of the University of Michigan and would rarely be seen with out supporting the Maize and Blue! His main love and support went to his family, and Bob cherished the time he spent with them at family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Battle Creek; sons, James Westworth and Rob (Lorrie) Westworth all of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Jason Carter, Deanna (Jake) Fletcher, Jacob Westworth, Robert Westworth, and Lexi Westworth; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Lola; brother Paul (Sue) Westworth of Battle Creek; sisters, Diana (Larry) Carpenter of Reading, Mary (Dave) Farmer, and Suzan Sanders all of Battle Creek; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Annette Verwey; sister-in-law Jannette Newton; and a niece Andrea Loucks.
Family will greet friends on Monday July 2, 2018, from 10-11am at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services Battle Creek Chapel, 2838 Capital Ave. SW, with a funeral service taking place at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Farmer officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are requested to the Grace Community Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
