Phillip D. Boone,79, of Marshall died on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family following a long illness.

Phil was born on November 21, 1938 in Hudson, Michigan to Richard and Luella (Heamon) Boone. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1958. On October 22, 1960, he married Joanne Wheeler at Zion Lutheran Church.

Phil served in the United States Coast Guard for 20 years. He also worked for the Eaton Company in Marshall for 26 ½ years and retired in 1988 due to illness. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Marshall FFA Alumni. Phil enjoyed working on cars, his Ford Mustang and auto racing. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling. When Phil was no longer able to work, he enjoyed his television programs and spending time with his family and rescue dogs Cooper and Piper.

He is survived by his wife Joanne of Marshall; children, Scott (Dawn) Boone of Union City, Michele (David) Stuart of Tekonsha, and Darla (Paul) Boes of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Jamie, Ashleigh, Ashley, Jessica, Lacey, and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Zelda, Raiden, Wesley, Elliot, Bentleigh, Alyssa, Adalynn, Cameron, and Camryn; brothers, Leonn Boone of Battle Creek and Charles (Millie) Boone of Coldwater. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Lindsey Marie Stuart; and a sister Linda Sue Boone.

Family will greet friends on Tuesday March 20, 2018 from 4-7pm at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Service Marshall Chapel, 723 US 27 North with family present to greet friends at that time. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Service Marshall Chapel with Reverend Antony Voltattorni officiating. Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Family will gather with friends at Zion Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall following the services.
