Mary Ann Huggett

Mary Ann (Finnegan) Huggett, 88, of Marshall died on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family following a long illness.
Mrs. Huggett was born on October 21, 1929 in Albion to John and Clara (Fernholz) Finnegan. She was one of nine children raised in Albion and graduated from Albion High School in 1947. On April 28, 1951 she married Clarence W. Huggett in Albion at Saint John Catholic Church.
Mrs. Huggett was a home maker who stayed at home and raised her children. She worked for a short time at Gale Manufacturing in Albion and also for the Kellogg Warehouse Offices. When her children were younger she was active in her church and the Camp Fire Girls. She worked at Saint Mary Catholic School Office. At Saint Mary Catholic Church sang in the choir, usher and greeter for many years. While the church had bingo she was the bookkeeper for eight years. Mrs. Huggett was the director at Camp Kichi-Kippi from 1966-1969. Mrs. Huggett received her American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate in 1966, and she taught swimming for 33 years both privately at her home and for the Marshall Public Schools Instruction Swim and American Red Cross Classes on Saturdays. She also was a part of the Battle Creek Synchronized Swimming Club for six years. Mrs. Huggett served two terms on the City of Marshall Recreation, Parks, and Cemetery board from 1975-1983. In 1989, after her husband retired they spent several winters in their winter home in Englewood, Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years Clarence of Marshall; children, Elaine (Gordon) Huggett-Coats of Marshall, Joan (Douglas Kinney) Huggett of Morehead City, North Carolina, William (Cindy Loyd) Huggett Sr. of Marshall, and Steven (Corinna) Huggett Sr. of Marshall; ten grandchildren; six step grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents; and six siblings.
Family will greet friends on Wednesday March 21, 2018 from 5-8pm at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services Marshall Chapel 723 US 27 North with family present to greet friends at that time with a rosary service taking place at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass will take place at 11am on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Saint Ann Catholic Church 312 South Street, Bellevue with Reverend Father Dwight Ezop officiating. Interment will follow at Austin Cemetery. Family will gather with friends following the committal service at Saint Ann Parish Hall. Memorial contributions are requested to Saint Ann Catholic Church. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
