Donnabelle Grodavent

Donnabelle Grodavent, age 92, of Battle Creek, MI passed away peacefully Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Marshall Nursing and Rehab. She was born January 23, 1926, the daughter of Frederick and Ruth (Brunney) Bergman. Donnabelle was high school graduate of Battle Creek Central. She met Charles Grodavent while attending an Ice Cream Social. After Charlie's discharge, Donnabelle and Charlie were married on October 5, 1946 in Battle Creek, MI. Together they had three children.

The Grodavent's adored kids; every Christmas they played Mr. & Mrs. Claus at Churches, local Christmas parties, Sonoma Lake Elementary School, and Beadle Lake Elementary School for 20 years. She loved babysitting kids, fishing with her husband, and square dancing. Donnabelle loved making American Girl Doll's clothes and playing BINGO all over.

Donnabelle is survived by her children, Janet (Richard) Mizga of Springport, MI, Kathy (Art) Haley of Mattawan, MI, Charles Wesley Grodavent III of Battle Creek, MI; grandchildren, Charlie Grodavent IV, Aaron Grodavent; great-grandchild, Cason; step-grandchildren, Phillip Mizga, Eric Mizga; and brother, Robert Bergman. She was preceded in death by husband, Charlie and her parents.

Family will receive friends at Kempf Funeral & Cremation Service, Battle Creek on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00pm with Reverend Jim Codde officiating. Interment will take place at Newton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or charity of one's choice.
